CISA estimates 2015 steel output at 807mt
China produced an estimated 806.92 million tonnes of crude steel in 2015, according to estimates from the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA). The figure suggests a -5% drop in Chinese domestic apparent steel consumption in 2015, Kallanish notes.
Alongside the -1.92% fall in steel output, CISA said it expects China to have produced 697.66mt of pig iron. It put average daily production at 2.21mt of crude steel and 1.91mt of pig iron.
