City plans $100m line to power Algoma’s EAFs
The city of Sault Ste Marie in Ontario, Canada, is investing CAD$100 million ($79m) in an electrical transmission project to help power Algoma Steel’s new electric arc furnaces.
The city’s public utilities commission will build a 10.5km-long 230-kilovolt transmission line connecting an existing power substation to a new transmission station, which the commission will also build, near Algoma Steel, Kallanish learns from local media reports.
