CSN resumes blast furnace, hikes steel prices
Brazil's Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN) will restart blast furnace No.2 at its Volta Redonda plant by end-November. So said CSN chief executive Benjamin Steinbruch during the company’s third-quarter earnings conference call monitored by Kallanish.
BF2, which has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of hot metal, was halted temporarily on 29 May due to the Covid-19-induced steel market downturn in Brazil.
