Economic slowdown, Chinese exports hamper Graphite India performance
Slowing global economic growth has resulted in reduced demand for graphite electrodes and put severe pressure on prices, says Graphite India (GIL).
GIL’s consolidated net sales slumped -51% on-year in the first fiscal quarter through June (FQ1) to INR 967 crores ($135.4 million) and net profit plummeted -89% to INR 220 crores. Capacity utilisation fell to 75% from 88% in the year-earlier quarter.
