Evraz ramps up Russian first-quarter output, sales
Steelmaker and miner Evraz’s first quarter consolidated crude steel output has risen 12.4% on-quarter to 3.5 million tonnes. This follows a re-commissioning of one of the blast furnaces at the flagship Russian ZSMK mill after repairs in late Q4.
Russian mills produced 2.7mt of pig iron in Q1, 15.5% up on-quarter, and 5.5% on-year, pushing Russian crude steel production up 14.9% on-quarter and 3.5% on-year to 3mt, Kallanish notes.
