Finished imports increase in May
US finished steel imports appear to have increased in May, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Commerce Department data, the institute puts total May import applications at 2.2621 million short tons, 1.823m st of which was finished - down 0.7% and up 9.9%, respectively, from April’s final data.
On-month, tin plate imports rose by 210%, with light shape bar imports up 45% and cold-rolled sheet imports up 39%. …
