Global DRI production grows 7%, led by India
Global direct reduced iron production increased to 135.514 million tonnes in 2023 from 126.165mt in 2022, up by 7.41% or 9.349mt, according to worldsteel data monitored by Kallanish.
A double-digit growth in DRI production occurred in Libya, Germany, Egypt, South Africa, India and Bahrain. By contrast, Mexico, Malaysia, Trinidad and Tobago, Oman, the US and Venezuela saw decreases.
