Global January output falls based on China estimates
Global crude steel production fell 1.6% on-year in January to 148.1 million tonnes, Kallanish notes from worldsteel data. However, this was based heavily on Chinese production being estimated to have fallen.
Chinese output was estimated down 6.9% to 77.24mt. Indian and Japanese output were confirmed up 7.3% and 0.6% respectively to 12.5mt and 7.3mt. South Korean output rose 1.5% to 5.7mt.
