Handan plans to remove steel capacity

Hebei's Handan city plans to remove 1.51 million tonnes/year of iron capacity, 300,000 t/y of steel capacity, 1.15m t/y of coal capacity and 3m t/y of coking capacity by August 2018. Eighteen steelworks and twenty-four coke plants are also required to install desulphurisation, de-nitrification and de-dusting equipment, according to local government plans. The city saw iron output fall by -5.3% year-on-year at 36.74 million tonnes of iron. …
