Holiday delays Feng Hsin's scrap offer
The Taiwanese scrap market returned to calm after the Dragon Boat Festival holiday last week, and local scrap buyers slowed sales.
Major Taiwanese steel mill Feng Hsin Iron & Steel has delayed issuing its offers for scrap purchasing prices and rebar sales prices. Its HMS 1 scrap purchase price was at TWD 10,700/tonne ($343/t) last week, while the list price for #5 (5/8 inches or 15.875mm nominal diameter base) rebar reached TWD 19,300/t ex-works.
