Hyundai increases prices for high-grade Japanese scrap
South Korea’s Hyundai Steel has raised its bid for high-grade scrap this week, Kallanish understands.
The mill placed a bid at JPY 55,000/tonne ($497/t) for shredded grade scrap, JPY 56,000/t for HS grade scrap and JPY 57,000/t for Shindachi Bara scrap in its auction which closed on 17 June. These are JPY 4,000/t higher than its bid prices for these scrap grades last week. In its latest tender, Hyundai did not bid for lower grade scrap, including H2.
