Hyundai, Posco demand 64% ship plate price hike
South Korean steel producers Hyundai Steel and Posco are demanding that their shipbuilding steel plate prices be increased to KRW 1.15 million/tonne ($1,007.5) base in the second half of the year, up 64% from KRW 700,000 in H1.
The two steelmakers are negotiating with Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Samsung Heavy Industries Co., and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Kallanish notes.
