Import offers pressure northwest European plate prices
European plate buyers are seeing increased low-priced imports coming in from overseas in comparison to a couple of months ago.
According to a Dutch buyer, “Asian offers have come down by €100/tonne ($107) lately, and I hear of base prices at around €780/t now, [for S355, in euro].” A German buyer is not so sure, stating that “I have not heard of prices below €800 yet”.
