Indian consumption continues recovery, second Covid-19 wave threatens
Indian finished steel consumption fell 9.9% on-year in the first 11 months of the fiscal year through March 2021 (FY21) to 84.69 million tonnes, according to Joint Plant Committee (JPC) data monitored by Kallanish. Demand has rebounded significantly in the second half of the fiscal year.
Rebar and wire rod, and hot rolled coil use fell 4.9% and 13% respectively to 35.4mt and 32.8mt.
