Indian scrap imports rise significantly on bulk bookings
Indian scrap imports soared 203.37% on-year to 1.24 million tonnes in November, against 410,855t a year earlier. Indian scrap imports in April-November thus rose 46.53% on-year to 6.84mt against 4.67mt last year, Kallanish notes from Indian commerce ministry provisional data.
The rise in bulk bookings to Kandla and Chennai ports is one of the major reasons for the increase in scrap imports.
