Iron ore jumps as import licences fall

Seaborne iron ore prices gained on Wednesday as buying activity picked up slightly. Chinese import licences issued in May were down month-on-month however, suggesting at least that supply is steady rather than rising. The Kallanish index for 62% Fe Australian fines gained $1.76/t to $51.34/dry metric ton cfr Qingdao. 170,000 tonnes of PB fines traded on globalORE at $52.45/t for August delivery, while 90,000t of Newman fines, also for August, sold for $52.40/t. …
