January shipments down on-year, up from December

The American Iron and Steel Institute reports 7.14 million short tons of steel were shipped in January, a 7.9% decrease from last January when shipments were 7.76m, Kallanish learns. January 2023 shipments represent a 3.6% increase from the previous month, when shipments equalled 6.9m st.  On-year, hot rolled coil shipments decreased by 12%, cold rolled shipments decreased by 10%, and corrosion resistant sheet and strip decreased by 7%.
