Japan’s March steel production rebounds, quarterly volume falls
Japan's March standalone production of pig iron, crude steel and hot rolled steel products all rebounded compared with February 2024, but output in the first quarter was still lower than the same period of last year, Kallanish notes.
Monthly and quarterly production of pig iron was 5.038 million tonnes and 15.393mt respectively, down 6% and 1.8% from the year-ago level, according to data given by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation.
