Japan’s steel cross-border trade rebounds in FY2023
Both exports and imports of Japanese iron and steel achieved a slight growth in the fiscal year 2023 ending March this year, after on-year losses in the previous fiscal year, Kallanish learns from preliminary statistics disclosed by the Ministry of Finance, Japan.
In March, the country exported 2.673 million tonnes of steel, down 10% year-on-year. This boosted annual exports to 32.077mt in FY2023, hiking 0.4% y-o-y. In monetary terms however, it decreased 5.3%.
