Japan’s steel orders recover in December
Orders of Japanese ordinary steel products last December climbed slowly from the prior month, thus pushing year-to-date order growth into positive territory.
December orders grew 3.2% over November and 2.7% on-year to 5.057 million tonnes, Kallanish notes. Both domestic and overseas demand contributed to the growth, but exports had a higher on-month growth rate despite an on-year drop of 0.5%.
