JFE’s quarterly profit falls despite rising revenue
Japan’s JFE Steel on Thursday reported a decline in its profits for the June quarter, the first quarter of its fiscal year 2023 (FY23), although revenue increased slightly, Kallanish notes.
In the reporting quarter, the company’s standalone crude steel production fell by 5.9% year-on-year to 6.05 million tonnes. Meanwhile, steel shipments were 5.23mt, 5.6% lower than a year earlier.
