JSW Steel longs output drops on plant shutdowns
JSW Steel reported a 9% on-year drop in standalone April long products output to 321,000 tonnes due to planned capital shutdowns taken at the Salem and Vijayanagar plants.
However, flats output surged 16% to 1.39 million tonnes and crude steel production grew 7% to 1.78mt, Kallanish notes.
This happened as Indian steel imports surged 38% on-year to 461,000t in April, while finished steel exports grew 12.48% to 856,000t, according to Ministry of Steel data.
