July imports fall in US
The American Iron and Steel Institute confirms US imports dipped sharply in July, Kallanish reports.
The US issued import licenses for a total of 2.786 million short tons in July, 1.879m st of which were for finished goods. That’s down 8.2% and 6.9%, respectively, from June.
Products that did register an on-month increase included coated sheet and strip, up 39%; mechanical tubing, up 29%, and hot-dipped galvanized sheet and strip, up 19%.
