Korean steel imports dip in September
South Korean steel imports fell in September after August’s recovery. A fall in imports from China drove the monthly fall and the weak Korean market is behind the year-on-year decline, Kallanish notes.
Korean steel imports were down -9.9% year-on-year and -10.7% month-on-month to 1.77 million tonnes in September, according to figures released by the Korea Iron and Steel Institute (Kosa). Over January-September, imports were down -2.8% at 16.55mt.
