LatAm crude steel production drops in 2023: Alacero
Latin American crude steel production decreased month-on-month in December 2023 and was weaker year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
According to the steelmakers’ association Alacero, regional crude steel production reached 4.55 million tonnes in December, 415,000t less than that in November and down 5.1% on-year. Of this volume, 2.04mt were produced through electric arc furnaces and 2.51mt by blast furnaces. Full-year output was down 7.5% on-year at 58.27mt.
