LatAm January crude steel production recovers sequentially
Latin America saw crude steel production rise sequentially at the beginning of 2022, says regional steelmakers’ association Alacero. January output, however, was down on-year, Kallanish notes.
Regional crude steel production reached 5.19 million tonnes in January, up 5% on December’s volume of 4.94mt but down by 3.6% on-year. Of this volume, 2.61mt were produced through the blast furnace route and 2.57mt by electric arc furnaces.
