Chinese exports surge amid weak domestic demand: Ocakci
Weak demand in China’s domestic steel market has seen its exports surge this year, Huseyin Ocakci, deputy general manager of Chinese trading company CIEC, pointed out during last week’s Irepas event in Istanbul.
China increased its steel exports in the first seven months of the year, averaging 7.31 million tonnes/month from 5.62m t/m in January-July 2022. The increase was led by flat steel exports, which rose 30% or 1.15m t/m on-year to 4.73m t/m.
