Liberty cuts Belgium jobs, could stop HDG line
Liberty Steel has started informing workers at it Belgian units of its intention to cut up to 153 jobs, mainly at the Tilleur and Flemalle sites.
Trade unions note this is part of the plan to stop one of the two hot-dip galvanized coil lines at the Flemalle site. The company confirms that the temporary mothballing of the Galva 4 line at Flémalle is a possibility. It points out that this line was stopped in 2014-2018 by former mill owner ArcelorMittal.
