Licenses to import into US grow in September
US import license applications totalled 2.6 million tonnes in September, according to the latest figures from the US Department of Commerce. This was a 3.2% rise from the month before and more than double the 1.146m t of imports in September 2020.
Shipments from Canada fell noticeably, declining 28% month-on-month to 500,187t of September licenses. Imports of Canadian flat products fell to a seven-month low.
