March pig iron production falls, mirroring steel output
Global pig iron production reported by 37 countries decreased by 4.82% on-year but increased by 6.72% on-month to 108.31 million tonnes in March, Kallanish notes from worldsteel data.
This mirrors the trend seen in global crude steel production, which fell by 4.3% year-on-year in March to 161.19mt, although this was an increase of over 10mt compared to February.
