Mechel eyes wire import substitution with new lines

Russian miner and steelmaker Mechel has launched four new drawing mills at its Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant (BMK) in the Republic of Bashkortostan for the production of import-substituting wire, the company tells Kallanish. Equipment worth RUB 220 million ($2.7m) was purchased as part of a project to modernise steel wire and rope production at BMK.
