Mechel’s Chelyabinsk uses natural gas to reduce emissions
Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK), part of Mechel, has switched to the mixed use of natural and blast furnace gases as feedstock for its meltshop and rolling mill, the company says.
As a result of the upgrade, emissions into the atmosphere will be reduced by 2,000 tonnes/year, Kallanish notes.
