MENA billet prices increase amid continued shortage
In the Middle East, domestic and imported billet prices are increasing amid a shortage of locally-made product. Due to scheduled maintenance at Bahrain’s major mill, Sulb Steel, and the overbooking of Oman’s largest long steelmaker, Jindal Shadeed, electric arc furnace billet quotes are not being circulated in the market, Kallanish notes.
In United Arab Emirates, initial quotes for local induction furnace billet are at $650/tonne ex-works.
