Moody’s foresees slow Indian consumption growth
Moody’s expects Indian steel consumption to grow 2-2.5% on-year in 2020, in line with its Indian GDP growth forecast of 2.5%.
This growth will take place despite the three-week nationwide lockdown in India from 25 March designed to combat the spread of the coronavirus, which will nevertheless hurt steel sales in March and April. The consumption growth forecast is down from the 7.5% hike in consumption recorded in the Indian fiscal year through March 2019.
