MPI issues Chinese steel demand forecast for 2018
The China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute (MPI) has predicted that national steel demand will increase slightly by 0.7% in 2018 due to steadier domestic economic growth. Last year it estimated that Chinese domestic steel production and demand could both dip (see Kallanish 12 December 2016).
