MPI predicts steady steel demand in 2018

The China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute (MPI) has predicted that national steel demand will increase slightly by 0.7% in 2018. Iron ore demand meanwhile could drop, due to steadier domestic economic growth and increased usage of scrap. It also estimates 832 million tonnes annual crude steel output for 2017 and around 725mt of actual steel consumption.
