NDRC issues huge steel environmental technology upgrade scheme
China’s National Development & Reform Commission (NDRC) has issued a list of around 29 encouraged energy-saving steel production technologies, mainly focused on carbon emission reduction.
China set up a carbon trading market management system in 2017 which will eventually cover steel, although the initial pilot in 2018 will only cover the electricity sector (see Kallanish 14 December 2017).
