North America drags down Gerdau shipments, earnings rise

Gerdau’s steel shipments fell 1% on-year in the first quarter to 3.06 million tonnes, although crude steel production rose 8% to 3.41mt. The Russia-Ukraine conflict caused disruptions in the supply of commodities, pressures on the global supply chain and higher spot prices for raw materials in the international market, the Brazilian steelmaker says.
