Nucor pivots to rail, truck shipping methods
The Mississippi River currently cannot support some barge shipments due to its diminished water level, learns Kallanish. As a result, Nucor is delaying shipping via barge as a precautionary measure to avoid delays or backups.
Choosing to ship some products via rail increases shipment cost by more than 60%, while opting for trucking will cost Nucor three times as much as a barge shipment would cost.
