Nucor-backed NuScale drops Utah nuclear reactor venture
NuScale, a Portland, Oregon-based small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) manufacturer backed by Nucor, has ended its project with Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS), Kallanish understands.
NuScale was the recipient of a $15 million investment by Nucor. In April, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based steelmaker signed a memorandum with NuScale to explore the potential of SMRs for electric arc furnace (EAF) power (see Kallanish 19 May).
