OKD appoints chairman, no indication of mining extension

Czech miner OKD has appointed Roman Sikora its new chairman in its last year of operation. Sikora was previously executive director at Polish coal miner PG Silesia. This follows the resignation of previous chairwoman Vanda Staňková. This will be the company’s last year of operation, after the Czech government decided last year to cease all operations by end-2022 once current coal seams have been exploited.
