Osaka Steel plans low-emission EAF
Japanese steelmaker Osaka Steel plans to install an "ECOARC" electric arc furnace that saves energy and reduces CO2 emissions at its Sakai Works.
The aim is to increase the cost competitiveness of the plant and reduce its CO2 emissions, the steelmaker said. The EAF is expected to be installed in 2025, and will cost Osaka Steel JPY 8.7 billion ($59 million) after government subsidies, Kallanish learns.
