Philippine steel project gains power supplier
Philippine power firm Aboitiz Power has said it hopes to supply power to the 8 million tonne/year steelworks project planned in the country by Hebei Iron and Steel (Hegang) and Steel Asia. The project is still likely to face a number of political and logistical hurdles, Kallanish notes. It has managed however to secure partners which make it the most promising attempt to build an integrated steelworks in the Philippines.
