Posco output slips but profits strengthen

South Korea’s Posco reported a drop in output in 2017 due to maintenance and renovation work.  Stronger prices boosted profits however, including at its overseas subsidiaries, Kallanish notes. In 2017 Posco reports it produced 37.21 million tonnes of crude steel, down slightly from 37.97mt in 2016. Finished product output meanwhile slipped from 35.59mt to 54.21mt.
