Rizhao Steel targets new EAF by year-end
China’s Shandong Rizhao Steel will install a new 300-tonne electric arc furnace instead of its initially planned two 120t converters, according to the capacity replacement adjustment plan.
The design steel capacity will thus be increased from 2.7 million tonnes/year to 3 million tonnes/year, Kallanish notes. Zibo Qilin Fushan Steel and Shandong Longsheng Steel are responsible for the additional capacity quotas.
