Rouble strengthening, competition challenge Russian billet suppliers
Russian mills’ billet offers continued increasing on the rouble strengthening and limited availability. However, a very wide gap between offers and bids from foreign customers prevented deals from materialising, market participants inform Kallanish.
“If the rouble gains, it’s bad for exporters,” a trader says. The currency was at 89.5 per dollar on Wednesday, compared to 90.67:$1 a week earlier.
