Russia scrap consumption falls, pig iron gains: Ruslom
Consumption of ferrous scrap in Russia decreased in 2022 amid a decline in steel production and the switching by steelmakers to use of pig iron, Russian scrap metal association Ruslom tells Kallanish.
The cost of scrap remains relatively high as a result of a reduction in its collection, while exports to non-CIS countries have collapsed by more than eight times, it observes.
