Russia’s scrap demand to drop significantly: Ruslom
Demand for steel scrap in Russia will decrease this year due to a reduction in purchases from steel plants, who have reduced production, says Russian scrap metal association Ruslom director Viktor Kovshevny.
Consumption will be reduced by 30% on-year to 18.63 million tonnes, the association tells Kallanish. In January-June, demand decreased by 35% on-year to almost 9mt. In June alone, consumption fell by 49% to 1.48mt.
