Samarco shareholders face new claim over dam failure
Brazilian miner Vale says it was not aware of a new claim over the 2015 Samarco tailings dam failure.
On 16 October, the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG) and Espírito Santo (MPES) together with the Federal Prosecutor's Office in Brazil filed a petition at the 4th Federal Civil and Agrarian Court of Belo Horizonte for compensation against Samarco’s shareholders, Vale and BHP, in the Rio Doce case, Kallanish notes.
