Shougang builds first specialised NEV electrical steel mill
China’s Shougang on Wednesday announced the establishment of the world’s first specialised production line for electrical steel for new energy vehicles (NEVs), and the world premiere of two products-20SW1200H and ESW1230.
The production line has 350,000 tonnes/year of non-oriented electrical steel capacity, which is used for the drive motors of NEVs. Shougang says it can meet demand for 5 million NEVs per year, Kallanish notes.
